Marching at Fort Frederick Maryland
March 21, 2010
2.00 P.M. at the Visitor’s Center parking lot.
Please preregister on the Council website prior to March 17th.
If you forget to preregister, you can still attend.
If you already having a walking stick, please bring it with you. If you do not have one, don’t fret! You will still earn your beads.
3 miles round trip on a well marked trail. This hike will fulfill one of the Webelos Outdoorsman requirements.
Do not forget a water bottle for each member of your family!
Things to Bring:
· A small day pack or fanny pack
· Sturdy shoes for walking – sneakers are not suggested
· Water – please bring your water bottles filled. There are no water fountains on the trail!
· A few snacks – granola bars, trail mix
· Walking stick if you have one
· No electronic devices (ie; Game Boys, Radios/IPods, Cell Phones, etc)
Remember, what you put in your pack, you have to carry!! Keep it light!

From Hagerstown:
Fort Frederick State Park is located in the Cumberland Valley, 18 miles west of Hagerstown and one mile south of I-70 near Big Pool (Rt. 56, Exit 12). The Visitors Center is to the right as you enter the park. That is where we will start the hike.
JThe park is stroller friendly
LThe concession and gift shop will not be open
There is normally a fee to tour the Fort, they have waived that for us in return for doing a little trash detail in the park, so bring a small bag to pick up trash.
There a numerous picnic tables throughout the park if you would like to bring a lunch or dinner.
The Cub Hike Club is only responsible for the hike. Anything additional you would like to do with your pack or your family is up to you.
