 High Adventure

The National BSA Office operates three National High Adventure Bases:

Philmont opportunities for Troops and Crews include up to 12-day backpacking expeditions, cavalcades, ranch hand work sessions, a roving outdoor conservation school, and more. Philmont is located near the town of Cimarron, New Mexico. Treks travel through the Sangre de-Cristo Mountains starting at 6,000 ft to over 11,000 ft. Visit the National BSA Philmont web site or www.scouting.org/philmont to learn more about this base. Troop not going? Unable to make a reservation? Mason-Dixon Council also offers space to individuals annually on a Council Crew.

The Florida Sea Base offers an opportunity to explore a completely different type of wilderness-the under water wilderness. Florida Sea Base provides many vehicles to gain access to this underwater wilderness-large sailing vessels, power boats, kayaks and SCUBA equipment. The main Sea Base facilities are located on Lower Matecumbe Key, 75 miles north of Key West and 75 miles south of the Miami International Airport. This is the jumping off place for all programs except the Bahamas, Out Island Adventure, and Keys Adventure. Visit the Sea Base web site at www.bsaseabase.org for more details. Mason-Dixon Council also offers space to individuals annually on a Council Crew this information can be found below.
